Full Job Description
HCS is a mandatory Covid19 vaccination facility and requires every member of its workforce to be vaccinated against Covid19. If offered a position with us, you will have the opportunity to get vaccinated or apply for religious or medical exemption.
Job Summary – Assist Manager in supervision of the group home.
PART I Job Qualifications
A. Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
B. Work Experience: One year experience working with
individuals with developmental disabilities.
C. Equipment Utilization: Shower trolley, hi-low beds, electric razors, Hoyer Lift,
mealtime equipment, durable medical equipment, electric communication systems, all household appliances, thermometer. Van lifts and ramps.
D. Physical Demands: Operate ramps/lifts on vans, maneuver wheelchair. Able to lift 35 pounds independently. Able to assist in 2 person lift for residents over 35 pounds. Abel to administer CPR.
E. Special Skills/Licenses: Valid driver’s license in state of New Jersey with a good driving record.
F. Training: Must attend required DDD CDS trainings and required HCS Inservices, CPR/First Aid.
G. Communication Skills: Must read, write and speak English. Good verbal and written skills to communicate with residents and staff.
H. Employee shall submit to drug testing prior to employment.
I. Employee shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause.
J. Must agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and Child Abuse Registry Information.
K. Must submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire.
L. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Responsibility to Residents
1. Assist/train residents in the development of self-help and socialization skills.
2. Transport residents to daily program/work as required or needed.
3. Accompany residents on doctor appointments and ensure proper follow-up.
4. Attend annual ISP meetings for residents and ensure Information in document is accurate.
5. Maintain records of residents’ progress.
6. Assist in planning recreation and leisure time activities, including community outings.
7. Assist with inventory of personal items/clothing. (January/June)
9. Prepare menu and do food shopping (encourage maximum resident participation).
10. Administer medication. Check medication/prescriptions and assist with preparing monthly medication administration records. Reorder medication as needed.
11. Provide safe, secure environment for residents.
12. Respond to Life Threatening Emergencies per Danielle’s Law and Stephen Komninos’ Law
13. Cooperate with HCS and the license and Department of Human Services staff
in any inspection or investigation.
